Privacy Policy

Meteorite is a local‑first macOS app. Your notes live on your device, and we do not require accounts. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not collect, and how future optional features would work.

1. What We Do Not Collect

Your note content: We do not collect, store, or process the text of your notes on our servers.

Accounts and identities: Meteorite does not require an account today. We do not collect usernames, passwords, or identity profiles to use the app.

2. What We Collect

Meteorite does not run a backend and does not collect analytics by default. We do not receive your note content, browsing history, or usage behavior.

The only information we may receive is what you choose to share, such as when you email support or opt in to send a crash report through macOS. Those reports typically include device and app version details and are intended to help diagnose issues, not collect content.

3. Local Storage and Security

Your notes are stored locally on your Mac. Security depends on your device security (disk encryption, passwords, and system updates). We recommend keeping macOS updated and enabling FileVault.

4. Third‑Party Services

Payments: Paid upgrades are processed by a merchant of record such as Lemon Squeezy or by the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Updates: The app may check our servers for updates. This may include your app version and macOS version.

Website: Our website may use standard server logs and basic analytics to maintain performance and security.

5. Optional Features

We may add optional services or integrations over time. If you choose to enable any feature that sends data off your device, we will clearly disclose what data is involved and provide choices before anything leaves your Mac.

6. Data Retention

Because we do not store your notes, we do not retain your content. If we collect limited diagnostics or analytics, we retain them only as long as necessary for reliability and product improvement.

7. Your Choices

You can delete the app and your local data at any time. If future optional data collection or sync features are added, we will provide controls to enable or disable them.

8. Children’s Privacy

Meteorite is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. International Users

Meteorite is operated from Canada. If you use the app from another country, your data may be processed in Canada to the extent we collect any limited diagnostics or analytics.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and provide clear notice in the app or on the website.
